BANK MERCHANT SERVICES

NFRA has negotiated what we believe is a great opportunity for retailers to process their credit card transactions through the Commonwealth Bank at a Merchant Rate of 0.64% (inc. GST) for most Credit Cards, regardless of your turnover. Note that you do not need to bank with CBA, although credit card transactions need to pass through a CBA eftpos machine in your store, - BUT REMEMBER, you do not have to change your own current banking institution as credit card sales pass daily into your account.

Debit Card transactions are .05c per transaction (inc. GST). If you are not aware of the Merchant Fees that you are paying for credit card transactions now, then it is important to contact your bank and confirm how they compare with our CBA rates.

The Commonwealth Bank have also put together a range of products for NFRA members that will include some concessions for overdrafts, mortgage advantages, leasing arrangements for shop fittings or vehicles, and financial advice.

STAFF TRAINING

One of the most important activities for NFRA is our Footwear Fitting Course, which
has been operating for over 50 years and is highly regarded from within the industry. This comprehensive weekend course covers:

• Consultative Selling: 
• Leather, Components, Constructions & Displays:  
• Podiatry for salespersons. Growing feet, development of gait, foot problems, and the use of orthotics.:
• And, an intensive theoretical and practical shoe fitting segment, where participants   are taught theory and are shown how to measure feet.
• Practical fitting for each person under the guidance of an experienced shoe fitter.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS TELEPHONE ENQUIRIES

The NFRA has an arrangement with VECCI (Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry) to provide telephone advice on Employee Entitlements and Employer Obligations relating to Retail & Clerical Awards for all states of Australia.

FOOTWEAR NEWS

Your membership package includes a free subscription to the footwear industry magazine called “Footwear News.” This informative monthly magazine provides articles on fashion, new suppliers, industry gossip, overseas items, and is well read by the industry.
